The manticore is a medieval heraldric beast, derived from the Persian martichoras. Traditionally, it has the body of a lion, with a scorpion's tail, and the head of a bearded man with many rows of teeth. My version follows the more modern view, giving the creature a set of bat-like wings. I've also designed this manticore with a lion's head. The model in this photo has a much-improved wing design.
